Long hitters may attempt to challenge the corner of the dogleg to shorten this par 5, which is the longest hole on the course. That can be risky, however, as two bunkers, a grove of trees and the naturally sloping terrain that feeds balls into the woods all must be navigated to cross the dogleg. Playing to the left of the first fairway bunker is the safe play. At Boonsboro, it is important to score well early in the round, as the two par fives in the first three holes offer some of the best birdie opportunities on the course.
